So I've been consuming a lot of PST streams/videos lately, and picked up on a few things and wanted to share them:

  • Lumber Mills increase the power of the NPC mages in a keep. If you don't take them before you take a keep, they can seriously mess up your group.
  • Even if you do take the Mill, the mages in the inside of the keep can seriously mess up your group if you don't LOS them outside the door.
  • Mines increase the power of the NPC Honour Guards in a keep. They can one shot you if you don't take the mine.
  • I'm assuming by process of elimination, I'm assuming the farms will make the NPC healers stronger?
  • You can place forward camps in the inner courtyard of sieged keeps to allow respawn inside.
  • Some soft caps in PvP are lower than in PvE. Armor being one.
  • Armor cap in PvP can be reached in 5 Light Armor/2 Heavy Armor + spell resist/armor inc traits.
  • The icons above your enemy's head in PvP disappear at a certain range. So you can use that to your advantage and scout zergs from a safe distance while looking like a straggler to the enemies.

Anyone else have anything to add?

I heard something different about keep resources, but they might have modified it, or maybe it is both. What I heard was that the Farm affects strength of NPCs, the Lumber mill affects the strength of doors, and the Mines affects the strength of walls.

LOS: I think you are talking about Line of Sight, but I am not quite sure what you mean in that sentence. Are you saying stay out of their LOS?

The only thing I would add is that sneaking is very effective in PvP. I have seen multiple videos in which a large group was in sneak mode, sometimes with one exception, and they successfully jumped the other side who either thought the odds were in their favor, or never even knew what hit them until it did.

You aggro them and then LOS them outside the door. If you enter the keep while they're still there they can wipe the group. This was from someone playing on the PTS, I didn't notice it last time I played on the beta.

Does LOS mean "Lead them Out Side"?

I'm still not sure what you do when you LOS someone.

Line Of Sight seems to be more of a thing than an action, so I don't understand.

LOS is just mmo shorthand. To LOS just means that you establish aggro or threat, and then move to a point where they cannot see or use targeted attacks against you. That's all. This forces them (even players) to have to move to a point where there are no obstructions between either of you, so this can be used as a tactic to position enemies. Or just a means of better controlling a scripted fight. But yeah that's LOS
We're getting so close to release, my scales are quivering.

Thanks Twitch! I was pretty sure it had something to do with Line Of Sight, but it still wasn't making sense.

So why do we LOS the sorcs in this situation? Is the idea that we can pull a few and not all? Or that we send someone in to claim the keep while the sorcs are chasing one of us?

Just trying to learn.

Ah, sorry bout that Haas. We LOS them because with that chokepoint there when you go inside, the mages (the ones that hang around the transitus shrine) can nuke your group, so you LOS them to get them to come outside so you can take them out while your not grouped up.

Most important tip I can give after playing the beta in AvA extensively, sneak or get snuck.

Also I did some testing on the swimming passive to see if it would allow us to cross places that other races would unable to cross. It does. And it allows us to reshape the battle itself by quickly getting behind a blocked off bridge and laying down forward camps behind enemy lines.

And another thing, small group PvP is ridiculously fun. I ran with a group of 4-6 guys for a few hours, popping out of stealth only long enough to nuke some poor sap(s) down before disappearing back into the mist. We even took out the Emperor!
